Embedded Software Engineer (REMOTE)

Position Summary:
We’re seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to enhance our smart IoT infrastructure. This remote role focuses on embedded Linux environments (e.g., Raspberry Pi) and Node.js development, driving performance improvements across our edge devices. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally across the product lifecycle, from ideation and architecture to testing and deployment, working in a modern cloud-native stack.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance existing embedded systems within connected smart equipment
- Optimize device gateways and networking protocols (MQTT, TCP/IP) using tools like Wireshark
- Lead automation and CI/CD improvements (CircleCI, Docker, scripting with Python/Bash)
- Troubleshoot sensor hardware and develop new IoT capabilities
- Support fleet management and production-level checkups
- Collaborate with other engineering teams on backend APIs and third-party integrations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in embedded software engineering, preferably on Linux systems
- Strong networking and debugging knowledge (MQTT, TCP/IP, Wireshark)
- Experience with Docker containers and CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI preferred)
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AWS IoT and the Balena deployment platform
- Familiarity with sensor integration and IoT protocols
- Optimization-focused engineering approach
