We are looking for a Staff Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure to support the design and creation of products and services to meet the technology needs of Arlo Technologies. This position will work help define and design our multi-Cloud hosting service 9AWS, GCP, OCI), which includes virtual machine standards, configuration, provisioning, and ongoing operations. This position will also work with application support teams to re-define the interface between the hosting service and application installation and configuration process. This will help us define new products & services that will be used by the Cloud Operations team as well as application team to help build and deliver hosted applications and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Modernize traditional server hosting by adopting cloud services, designing, and evaluating technical architectures for new services and features with stakeholders and leveraging innovative and latest technology developments through new implementation and enhancements to existing ones
- Clearly articulate technical architecture (current and future state diagrams, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns) as determined by business requirements and other factors
- Leads key technical discussions and considerations around transformative technology from both a technical and non-technical perspective
- Collaborate with security teams to incorporate strong security controls, apply security best practices in our code development life cycle
- Drive product centricity by focusing on capabilities and value vs. technologies and tasks
- Act as the technical product owner for key hosting services, including on-prem and cloud infrastructure and automation
- Provide technical guidance to other individuals and team members
- Mentor junior cloud engineer staff in technical skills development
Education/experience/knowledge & skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- Cloud Architecture & Delivery: Design, build, and automate cost-effective, resilient, and secure cloud-based solutions, with hands-on involvement or providing technical oversight depending on level.
- Strong Experience: Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation and AWS, OCI and GCP cloud infrastructure management.
- Kubernetes Proficiency: Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
- Scripting & Coding: Fluency in scripting/coding languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and tooling.
- Terraform Module Development: Ability to create reusable Terraform modules to streamline infrastructure provisioning
- Platform Mindset: A collaborative approach to working with development teams to build and maintain a robust platform.
- Cloud Security: Understanding of cloud security best practices and the ability to implement secure configurations.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address complex infrastructure issues.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Experience building and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines with Harness, Jenkins, Atlantis or ArgoCD
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory & Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Experience in self-service cloud and infrastructure automation
- Kubernetes Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
- AWS Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) demonstrate your expertise
