Location: [Remote/On-site]
Job Type: [Full-time/Contract]
Experience: 3+ years in technical project management, preferably in social networking, travel tech, or marketplace startups
About the Role:
We are looking for a Technical Project Manager with expertise in the social and travel domains to drive product execution. You will collaborate with the CEO, CTO, and developers to analyze features, define technical requirements, and ensure smooth delivery. You don’t need to code daily, but you must understand development deeply to ask the right questions, assess feasibility, and translate business needs into technical plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirement Analysis & Technical Documentation:
- Work with leadership to define social features (feeds, chat, notifications) and travel tech (bookings, maps, recommendations).
- Convert business ideas into clear technical specs (APIs, databases, architecture).
- Evaluate third-party integrations (e.g., payment gateways, geolocation APIs).
Technical Oversight (No Coding Required, But Must Understand Code Logic):
- Strong grasp of SDLC and tech stacks like Node.js, React Native, iOS, and MySQL/NoSQL.
- Ability to review architecture, debug discussions, and assess trade-offs (e.g., real-time updates vs. performance).
- Familiarity with social/travel challenges: scaling chats, handling peak bookings, etc.
Agile & Execution:
- Write Jira tickets, prioritize backlog, and run daily scrums/retrospectives.
- Identify risks (e.g., API rate limits, database bottlenecks) early.
Bridge Between Teams:
- Explain technical constraints to non-tech stakeholders (CEO).
- Ensure developers have clear, actionable tasks.
Skills & Qualifications:
✅ Must Have:
- 3+ years in technical PM roles, preferably in social/travel apps.
- Deep SDLC understanding – you know how apps are built, even if you don’t code.
- Experience with Node.js, React Native, iOS, and databases (to guide discussions).
- Agile/Scrum expertise (Jira, Confluence, sprint planning).
✅ Good to Have (Not Mandatory):
- Basic coding knowledge (can read/understand code, but won’t write it).
- Cloud (AWS/GCP) or API design exposure.
- Familiarity with WebSockets, Firebase, or map APIs (Google Maps).
Why Join Us?
- Lead projects in a fast-moving social/travel startup.
- Influence product decisions without being buried in code.
- Flexible, impact-driven culture.
