Tech Lead (Python / AI / Data) - Full Time - US Only

The Mission

Architect and ship the core platform that turns raw public records and web data into actionable mass-tort insights - fast, defensibly, and at scale.

What You’ll Own

• Hands-on Architect - Python-first system design (ETL, micro-services, vector DBs). Write and review the trickiest code paths so tech debt stays near 0.
• Delivery Driver - Break the roadmap into sprints, delegate to 2-5 engineers, and hit KPIs like scrape freshness, model recall, and 99.9 % uptime.
• AI/LLM Builder - Productionize RAG pipelines, prompt-engineer, and monitor accuracy/bias for OpenAI/Anthropic/Gemini or self-hosted models.
• Team Multiplier - Unblock with pair programming, crisp design docs, and thoughtful code reviews; grow juniors and challenge seniors.
• Stakeholder Translator - Explain trade-offs to founders, product, and legal SMEs - balancing speed with compliance (PII redaction, audit logs).
• Startup Operative - Thrive in ambiguity, pick pragmatic cloud/infra-as-code tools, and bake security & observability into V1.

What Success Looks Like

• Zero-to-one velocity: first customer-visible features in weeks, not months.
• Reliable pipelines: daily web-scrape jobs and LLM inference running hands-off.
• Team uplift: engineers level-up demonstrably within a quarter.

Your Toolkit

• 5 + years building cloud-native back-ends in Python (FastAPI, Django, or similar).
• Deep familiarity with web scraping (Scrapy/Playwright), async data pipelines, and object storage.
• Real-world LLM work - vector search, prompt tuning, rate limited etc.
• CI/CD, IaC (Terraform, Pulumi), and monitoring (Grafana, Sentry).
• Clear written & verbal comms; you make complexity simple.

Nice-to-Haves: experience with PACER/RECAP, NHTSA/FDA data, SOC 2/SOX work, or other regulated domains.

Interview Process

• 15 minute initial overview call
• ~2-3 hour take home case study (no coding required). Architecture diagrams, task breakdown and written communication expected
• 1 hour pair programming assessment with CTO, with screenshare and agent use
• 30 minute Q&A with founding team
