React Native Developer - MVP Mobile App for Tattoo Artists

About the company

TRAZA is a young, budget-conscious startup (3-person team: product/design, engineering, sales/ops) building a platform that helps tattoo artists get discovered and booked. The web product is live; the next milestone is launching an MVP mobile app for artists.

The Role

We’re looking for a React Native developer to build and ship our MVP app for tattoo artists by year-end/early next year. You’ll work closely with our co-founder/product designer (designs provided from our responsive web) and our engineer to implement core features, integrate APIs, and get the app into users’ hands quickly.

What you’ll do

• Build the TRAZA mobile app in React Native end-to-end for iOS and Android.
• Implement MVP features: messaging, booking/scheduling, customizable artist profiles, mapping/location (e.g., show artists nearby), and social integrations (e.g., auth/sharing).
• Integrate with existing backend/services and third-party APIs (mapping, social, notifications).
• Ensure high UX quality, performance, and reliability; write pragmatic tests.
• Collaborate async with a small team; provide weekly progress updates.
• Prepare for app distribution (beta testing, store submission, release management).

Must-have qualifications

• Professional React Native experience delivering production apps (portfolio or store links).
• Hands-on with mobile app navigation, state management, and API integration.
• Experience implementing at least two of the following:

1. Real-time or near-real-time messaging
2. Booking/scheduling flows
3. Maps/geo features (Google/Apple/Mapbox or similar)
4. Social login/sharing integrations

• Strong attention to UI/UX details; can execute from provided designs.
• Comfortable working independently in a startup environment and communicating progress clearly.
• Availability 20–40 hrs/week for 2–3 months, starting ASAP, with ~1–2 hrs/day overlap with Australia.

Nice to have

• Full-stack exposure (e.g., Node.js, REST/GraphQL) to move faster across the stack when needed.
• Experience with push notifications, in-app analytics, and CI/CD for mobile.
• Prior work on marketplaces, SaaS/B2B products, or creator platforms.
• TypeScript, animations/micro-interactions, performance tuning, and store submission know-how.
