Join our team as a Software Engineer II where you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and testing web applications for Tire Rack. You will handle moderately complex features, collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues, and develop scalable code. This role also provides the opportunity to take ownership of smaller projects and refactoring tasks.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain application features using Java, JSP, and JavaScript.
- Debug and resolve issues within assigned modules to ensure smooth functionality.
- Collaborate with team members to review code and improve system architecture.
- Maintain comprehensive system documentation for developed features.
- Actively participate in planning and testing discussions to enhance project outcomes.
- Support and enhance team tools, scripts, and internal documentation, contributing to team efficiency.
Required Skills
- 1+ years of experience programming in Java, preferably in a web-based environment utilizing JSP, J2EE, Servlets, REST APIs, and JavaScript.
- Proficient with GitHub, Linux, and basic HTML editing.
- Solid understanding of relational database principles and SQL.
- Awareness of user experience (UX) best practices and accessibility standards.
- Working knowledge of SEO principles and web analytics requirements.
- Familiar with secure coding techniques and general software security practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) or equivalent tools.
- Strong attention to detail with effective problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on documentation and concise technical expression.
- Ability to understand and follow written technical instructions.
- Self-driven, reliable, and able to manage time and tasks efficiently.
- Professional, tactful, and collaborative in team and cross-functional settings.
Nice to Have
- Additional experience or knowledge in related technologies or methodologies that enhance the development process.
Additional Requirements
We require the contractor to have a cell phone that can run Duo Mobile (Android 14 or newer, iOS 17.0 or newer) and a computer that has a remote desktop client for Windows.
