We are looking for a long-term Senior WordPress Developer / Technical Steward who can help maintain, improve and oversee a custom WordPress-based ecosystem called by icons.
by icons is a Nordic digital platform ecosystem for fashion, styling, retail collaboration and supplier-driven brand visibility. The platform includes ShoppingGuide, Brand Hub Manager, by icons Connect, supplier-facing modules, public websites and several custom WordPress plugins.
This is not a simple website-editing role. We are looking for a careful, experienced and structured developer who can understand existing plugin architecture, protect what is stable, debug carefully, review code when needed, improve functionality step by step, and guide the technical development of the platform over time.
The ideal person is not just a coder, but a long-term technical partner who values stability, clean structure, clear communication and thoughtful development.
We already have development support for lighter implementation tasks. This role is intended for senior-level technical oversight, plugin architecture, code review, debugging and safe long-term platform guidance.
Key responsibilities

Preferred experience
Working style
We value careful, honest and structured development.
The right person should be comfortable working step by step, reading existing code before making changes, documenting changes, and avoiding unnecessary rewrites of stable functionality.
We are looking for someone who can help protect the platform as much as build it.
This role requires patience, precision and technical maturity. We prefer careful analysis and safe improvements over fast, uncontrolled changes.
Estimated workload
This is not a full-time role.
We are looking for a long-term technical partner who can start with approximately 5 hours per week, mainly for technical review, debugging, careful improvements, plugin architecture and platform oversight.
The workload may increase temporarily during active development phases, urgent technical issues or important platform milestones.
Preferred location
Preferred location: Scandinavia or Europe.
Strong preference for Scandinavia due to long-term communication, Nordic market understanding, compatible time zone and close collaboration around a Nordic platform ecosystem.
Swedish developers are very welcome to apply, as the project has a Nordic market focus and requires clear long-term communication.
Strong candidates from other locations are also welcome if they have excellent communication skills, senior WordPress plugin experience and can work reliably within European time zones.
