Role Overview
We are seeking a practical, hands-on Senior Unity Developer to create a "vertical slice" MVP for an educational driving simulation. This project is designed to assist with Class 7 driver's license preparation, focusing on precision mechanics, traffic safety rules, and interactive knowledge checks within a 3D neighborhood environment. The primary objective is to leverage prebuilt Asset Store assets and a modular architecture to deliver an engaging and high-performance browser-based (WebGL) experience.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle & Speed Dynamics: Implement responsive vehicle physics with custom vehicle controllers, a functional dashboard UI (including a speedometer in km/h), and fine-tuned speed-control logic to maintain steady speeds.
- Quest & Rule Logic: Develop finite state machines and modular trigger/collision detection systems to manage 4 distinct driving quests, providing instant user feedback, scoring, and repeatable quest loops.
- Traffic & Environment Setup: Assemble small 3D neighborhood scenes using low-poly/prebuilt assets, integrating basic waypoint NPC traffic and scripted intersection logic.
- Interactive UI & Ingestion: Create embedded multiple-choice quiz systems, knowledge check-in overlays, and save/progression state logic across quests.
- Deployment & Optimization: Optimize game assets and script execution for fluid WebGL browser play and desktop builds while maintaining clean version control in Git.
Required Skills
- Engine & Language: Strong mastery of Unity 3D, C#, and Git version control.
- Gameplay & Physics: Expertise in vehicle controllers, vehicle physics, collision/trigger systems, and custom speed control algorithms.
- Systems Architecture: Proficiency with finite state machines, rule-based logic, modular architecture, and save/progression state tracking.
- NPC & AI Basics: Practical experience with NPC scripting and waypoint navigation systems.
- UI & Ingest: Hands-on experience with Unity UI, including speedometers, feedback panels, quiz systems, and scorecards.
- Platform Target: Demonstrated experience in producing, optimizing, and debugging WebGL builds.
- Asset Workflow: Deep familiarity with integrating and configuring Unity Asset Store packages.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in developing driving games, vehicle simulators, or serious/educational training games.
- Experience with scripted traffic behavior and basic intersection rule systems.
- Performance optimization tailored for browser-based (WebGL) environments.
- Experience deploying standalone desktop builds.
- Practical experience working with low-poly or prebuilt 3D environment assets.
