About the company
Seagard has over 10 years of experience protecting critical subsea infrastructure for some of the world’s largest technology, energy, and telecoms companies. Our proprietary software platform, SeagardOS, provides real-time monitoring, analytics, and operational control for offshore asset protection and autonomous guard vessels. We are now seeking a dedicated Software Developer to maintain and enhance SeagardOS as we scale into the next phase of growth.
Role Overview
As the SeagardOS Software Developer, you will take ownership of the platform’s technical stability and ongoing feature development. You will be responsible for maintaining the existing codebase, integrating new data sources, and delivering new modules that improve operational performance for our clients and internal operations team.
You will work closely with our Commercial Director, Managing Director, and wider team to ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, and continuously evolving.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Stability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise the existing SeagardOS platform.
- Ensure uptime, performance, and scalability of the system.
- Manage bug fixes, patching, and documentation.
Feature Development
- Build and deploy new modules and functionality (e.g. AIS data visualisation, threat tracking, live ticketing, communications tools).
- Integrate third-party APIs (e.g. AIS, satellite, weather, mapping).
- Enhance the UI/UX to meet operational requirements.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical solutions.
- Work with external development partners as needed to deliver larger roadmap items.
- Contribute to roadmap planning and technical decision-making.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in full-stack development (front-end + back-end).
- Proficiency with relevant technologies such as:
*Frontend: React (Or similar framework)
*Backend: Java
*Database: PostgreSQL / MySQL / MongoDB.
*Cloud/DevOps: AWS / Azure /
*GIS/Mapping: Mapbox
- Experience with API integration (especially data-heavy APIs).
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Understanding of real-time data systems is an advantage.
- Previous experience in maritime, geospatial, or defence software is desirable but not essential.
