Senior React Native Mobile Engineer

Real-time location is the foundation of our product.

Success depends on building reliable, battery-efficient location experiences that continuously adapt as users move, while maintaining privacy, security, and a seamless user experience. You'll play a central role in defining both the product architecture and the engineering standards that power the platform.

What You'll Build

Over approximately 14 weeks, you'll lead development of the MVP across four delivery phases.

Your work will include:

• Build secure authentication and user onboarding experiences.
• Integrate third-party identity verification into the registration flow.
• Develop AI-assisted profile creation workflows while ensuring user data remains protected.
• Build a real-time proximity experience powered by continuous location updates.
• Implement mutual user consent workflows before revealing participant information.
• Design and deliver an instant disconnect capability with minimal latency.
• Develop dynamic navigation experiences that continuously recalculate based on live user movement.
• Create backend services and data models supporting location intelligence and venue-facing APIs.
• Lead integration testing and resolve findings from an independent security review.
• Prepare and support submission to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Partner directly with the founder to evaluate technical tradeoffs and shape product direction.

Who We're Looking For

Must Have

• 5+ years of professional mobile application development, including 3+ years building production applications with React Native.
• Proven experience shipping at least one consumer mobile application to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Strong experience building real-time location features, including:
  • Continuous location streaming
  • Background location services
  • Battery-efficient geofencing
  • Handling GPS degradation in indoor and dense urban environments
• Experience building and owning backend services using Supabase, Firebase, or a comparable Backend-as-a-Service platform, including database design and application logic.
• Experience implementing WebSockets or comparable real-time communication technologies for live application updates.
• Ability to make architectural decisions independently and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment with significant ownership and autonomy.

Nice to Have

• Experience building products involving multi-user or real-time coordination, such as:
  • Ride-sharing
  • Delivery platforms

• Experience integrating identity verification providers.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and accessible mobile application design.
• Strong understanding of mobile location privacy and secure handling of sensitive user data.
