About the project
A founder-built, local-first Windows desktop application with an Electron interface and Python components. It uses AI agents to automate digital work: sourcing tasks, completing them with LLMs, and handling payments end to end. A shared core layer manages task routing, approvals, records, and reporting.
The product is an early-stage prototype and is not yet generating revenue. Core flows exist and have been tested, including payment collection and refunds via Stripe. The founder built the current version with heavy AI assistance and wants an experienced engineer to strengthen it, not rebuild it. If a rewrite of any part is genuinely justified, we want to hear the reasoning.
Phase 1 (through end of year)
- Review the existing codebase and document what works, what’s fragile, and what to prioritize.
- Stabilize the main automation workflow in small, testable increments: error handling, retries, duplicate events, logging, and clear review points before work is delivered or payments are taken.
- Improve the reliability of third-party integrations (LLM APIs, payments, external data sources).
- Add automated tests and basic setup and operating documentation.
- Recommend tooling or model changes where they would clearly help. The founder is open to alternatives to the current stack.
What we need
- Senior engineer with shipped production software in Python. Electron or desktop app experience is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications and automation workflows (OpenAI or similar).
- Payment integration experience, ideally Stripe, including refunds and failure handling.
- Experience integrating third-party platforms and APIs reliably and within their terms of use.
- Comfortable inheriting and improving an imperfect codebase.
- Good judgment about where AI helps and where deterministic rules or human review are safer.
- Clear, articulate spoken English and strong written communication. You’ll work directly with the founder on video calls and through async written updates, so being easily understood is essential.
- Able to explain technical tradeoffs in plain language to a non-technical founder.
Nice to have
- Windows app packaging and distribution
- Web scraping or marketplace integrations
- Market data or trading simulation experience, for later phases
How we work
- A mix of independent work on defined tasks and live sessions with the founder to unblock specific problems. The founder sets priorities and approves access, spending, and releases. Work stays in a repository the founder controls. An NDA is signed before code access.
