About the Company
GoldFish Ads is a 7-year-old ad-tech startup that builds custom audience data products for agencies, brands, and technology partners. Our current workflows rely on multi-step Python processes that pull data from Meta, Google, CDC, Census, and other sources. We’re now seeking a strong Python developer to automate these pipelines, take ownership of our Ads Utilities, and help shape the next generation of our core audience products.
Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Python Developer to take ownership of GoldFish Ads’ audience data pipelines and Ads Utilities. This role combines automation, API integrations, data engineering, and product-minded problem-solving. You’ll enhance our current manual workflows, extend our audience-building capabilities, and support the execution of our custom utility runs each week.
This role is part-time (10–15 hrs/wk), requires at least 4 hours of overlap with EST, and offers significant flexibility week-to-week. High performers will have opportunities to work on core product development and may be eligible for revenue-share incentives.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoking the script to run based on client inputs. Scripts are long-running can be a few hours. So, deploying onto a server would be preferred
-- Quick response and adjustments to client requests.
- Automate existing Python-based audience data pipelines pulling data from Meta, Google, Census, CDC, and other sources.
- Taxonomy management - build audiences based on trending sources by combining data sets.
- Review, clean up, and optimize existing manual scripts and processes.
- Improve pipeline reliability, error-handling, and run-time efficiency.
- Integrate new third-party data sources as needed.
- Build reusable modules and standardized processes for data ingestion and transformation.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and propose new automation opportunities.
- Build new custom audience segments, improve pipeline performance (parallelization, rate-limits, reporting), and identify further automation opportunities.
- Potential future work: contribute to core platform development (Ruby on Rails backend, Vue.js frontend).
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who can jump in, take ownership, and grow alongside the company. Because we’re small, every team member has a real impact. We want someone who’s curious, adaptable, proactive, and excited to build and come up with thier own projects — not just follow instructions.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Strong Python development experience, especially scripting, automation, and ETL-like workflows.
- Hands-on experience with APIs (Google Ads API, Facebook/Meta Marketing API preferred).
- Strong debugging skills and ability to validate/QA your own work.
- Experience integrating and transforming datasets (CSV/JSON/TSV, etc.).
- Ability to build modular, maintainable utilities and pipelines.
- At least 4 hours EST overlap.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with ad-tech or audience building.
- Familiarity with rate-limit handling and parallelized API workflows.
- Knowledge of Ruby on Rails or Vue.js for potential future product work.
- Prior experience in early-stage or small engineering teams.
- Experience designing new data products or audience segmentation strategies.
