Senior IoT Embedded Engineer - Fulltime - Worldwide (London preferred)

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Senior Embedded Engineers to join our team at Fuse Energy, a leading UK energy supplier. Our mission is to develop a cutting-edge connected home solar-and-battery product, transitioning from prototype to pilot production and certification. Your expertise will support our embedded/IoT workstream, focusing on enhancing the IoT controller side of our device.

Responsibilities

• Develop and bring up ESP-IDF firmware on the ESP32-C5 IoT controller.
• Establish MQTT connectivity to AWS IoT, handling device shadows, provisioning, and certificate management.
• Implement BLE-based device pairing and Wi-Fi commissioning, including managing failure and edge-case scenarios.
• Facilitate inter-MCU communication over a UART protocol between IoT and power controllers.
• Design and manage OTA update and recovery paths to ensure seamless device functionality.

Required Skills

• Proven experience with ESP-IDF firmware development on ESP32 platforms.
• Strong knowledge of MQTT and connectivity to AWS IoT, including device shadows and certificate handling.
• Expertise in BLE-based device pairing and Wi-Fi commissioning.
• Proficiency in UART protocol for inter-MCU communication.
• Experience with OTA updates and recovery processes.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with power-control MCUs and their integration with IoT controllers.
• Experience in handling edge-case scenarios in embedded systems.
