Join our innovative healthcare technology startup as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer. We are dedicated to developing a clinical governance platform tailored for Skilled Nursing Facilities. Our solution empowers nurses and providers by streamlining clinical event management through structured workflows, secure communication, and comprehensive documentation. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring our platform is ready for its first clinical pilot and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough reviews of the existing codebase and system architecture to identify technical risks and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with the current engineering team to provide technical redundancy and support critical platform areas.
- Engage in hands-on development of secure frontend and backend features utilizing TypeScript, React, NestJS, and PostgreSQL.
- Perform code reviews, offering constructive feedback to enhance architectural integrity and code quality.
- Translate complex clinical workflows into maintainable and user-friendly software solutions.
- Enhance role-based access controls, auditability, data protection, and system reliability.
- Optimize testing, CI/CD processes, deployment practices, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to the AWS infrastructure.
- Clearly communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders, including a clinical founding team.
- Collaborate with clinicians, product leaders, and external advisors to contribute to the technical planning for future platform growth.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience as a full-stack software engineer with a strong background in TypeScript and React.
- Proficient in backend development using Node.js and NestJS or comparable TypeScript frameworks.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
- Experience with AWS for application deployment and operation.
- Proven experience in developing HIPAA-compliant healthcare software.
- Strong understanding of technical safeguards related to HIPAA, including access controls, audit logging, and secure data handling.
- Ability to assess and enhance existing codebases, focusing on architecture, security, and maintainability.
- Experience in building secure role-based permission systems and strong system-design skills.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Residence in North America or Latin America, ensuring reliable overlap with the core team.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with clinical workflows, nursing, post-acute care, or Skilled Nursing Facility software.
- Experience with electronic medical record integrations like FHIR, HL7, or Epic.
- Background in multi-tenant healthcare SaaS platforms and designing highly available systems.
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and experience with DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and production observability.
- Experience preparing software for hospital security and compliance reviews.
- Previous roles as a technical lead, fractional CTO, staff engineer, or founding engineer.
- Understanding of secure messaging, clinical documentation, or healthcare audit requirements.
