Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Full-Stack FinTech Engineer to lead the development of an MVP for a Canadian FinTech web application. This project focuses on budgeting, borrowing readiness, and loan/mortgage qualification guidance, aiming to empower users with insights into their financial standing and personalized action steps to enhance their lending eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full-stack development of the MVP from concept to implementation.
- Develop a client-facing web application that allows users to input and review financial information.
- Integrate with financial data aggregation platforms such as Flinks to connect bank accounts and retrieve transaction data.
- Design and implement secure data models for user accounts, transactions, and financial scenarios.
- Create responsive user interfaces for financial dashboards and onboarding processes.
- Translate proprietary financial coaching formulas into robust application logic.
- Implement subscription billing using platforms like Stripe.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian privacy standards for handling sensitive financial data.
- Establish deployment, hosting, and database infrastructure, including basic monitoring.
- Work closely with the founder to refine product requirements and prioritize MVP features.
- Provide technical insights on MVP scope and future phase considerations.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience in full-stack engineering for production-quality web applications.
- Proficiency with React, Next.js, Node.js, and TypeScript or similar modern web technologies.
- Expertise in integrating third-party APIs, particularly in financial or sensitive-data contexts.
- Strong backend and database design skills, especially with PostgreSQL.
- Proven ability to develop secure applications managing sensitive user data.
- Capability to drive a product from initial requirements to MVP launch with minimal guidance.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with Flinks or similar bank-data aggregation platforms.
- Background in Canadian FinTech, lending, mortgage, or financial coaching products.
- Familiarity with subscription SaaS models and Stripe billing.
- Understanding of Canadian privacy regulations and financial data security.
- Experience in building admin portals, customer dashboards, or financial recommendation engines.
- Previous work on MVPs for startups or small businesses.
