Senior Full-stack Engineer / Tech Lead (TS/Node.js/PostgreSQL) - PERM - LATAM

Million Marker is hiring a SR Software Engineer to join our team. Million Marker is an early
stage startup based in Berkeley, CA that provides mail-in urine tests to help people learn about
their exposure to environmental toxicants in their day-to-day products. We currently serve
primarily preconception couples, but we are also planning to expand our offerings to include a
freely available product and chemical information database that will educate the public about the
health impacts of exposures and empower them to make effective lifestyle changes to avoid
exposure sources. In addition, we partner with institutions that use our test kits to support public
health research.

This is a full-time remote position. Senior software engineers will engage in the following key activities including:

• System design and architecture: Designing and implementing software systems, including defining system architecture, data models, and technical specifications.
• Team leadership: Leading and mentoring others on the team, assigning tasks, and overseeing project execution.
• Collaboration: Working closely with other teams like science/research, product
  management, design, communication, marketing and QA to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Code review and optimization: Reviewing code written by other developers to maintain quality and identify areas for improvement.
• Project planning and estimation: Contributing to project planning, defining timelines, and estimating effort for development tasks.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience
• Previous role with formal technical leadership experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Excellent analytical skills and be able to break down complex problems into manageable components and find effective solutions
• 5+ years of experience with Typescript in both a Node.js and browser environment
• 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL database schema and query design
• Experience with data-first architecture and design; relational database schema and query design
• Experience with functional programming and algebraic-type systems
• Proficient with current standards in HTML and CSS
• Experience with RESTful API design/architecture
• Experience with APIs with NestJS
• Experience with AWS, Heroku, or similar IaaS or PaaS providers and Infrastructure as Code (CDK/Terraform/OpenTofu)
• BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
• Professional experience in the e-commerce and/or health/wellness industry (preferred)

• Sveltekit + Typescript - Svelte frontend, backed by a serverless Node.js API
• PostgreSQL
• Python for data transformation and analysis
• Airtable + custom automation for internal business processes
