Juliana Torrisi, RecruiterRole Overview
A growing B2B software company is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join a small, experienced engineering team.
The company builds a mission-critical SaaS platform used by businesses with complex operational, data, and reporting workflows. The product includes customer-facing applications, internal workflow tools, integrations, data management, and backend services.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys having meaningful ownership. Rather than receiving narrowly defined tickets, you'll be expected to understand the problem being solved, make sound implementation decisions, and carry features through to production.
The engineering team is intentionally lean, so the successful candidate should be comfortable operating independently and contributing across multiple parts of the product.
What You'll Work On
- Develop and improve production applications using Python, React, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL.
- Build features across both frontend and backend components of the platform.
- Translate product requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Take ownership of features from initial requirements through development, testing, release, and iteration.
- Create and maintain backend services, APIs, application logic, and database functionality.
- Build intuitive and reliable user experiences in React and TypeScript.
- Work with relational data models and contribute to database design and application performance.
- Collaborate closely with product stakeholders and other engineers to solve customer and business problems.
- Identify technical risks, edge cases, and product considerations before they become larger issues.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving the quality and maintainability of the codebase.
- Share knowledge and provide technical guidance where helpful within the team.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong production experience developing backend applications with Python.
- Strong experience building modern web applications using React and TypeScript.
- Solid experience working with PostgreSQL or comparable relational database systems.
- Experience shipping meaningful features or products from initial concept through production.
- Ability to work independently without requiring detailed instructions at every stage.
- Strong product judgment and an interest in understanding the user problem behind the code.
- Comfortable contributing across the stack, even if your background is stronger on either frontend or backend.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard for the reliability and completeness of your work.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working within a small, fast-moving engineering organization.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Experience with SQLAlchemy or another Python ORM.
- Strong UI/UX instincts or previous involvement in product/interface design.
- Experience using Figma or collaborating closely with designers.
- Experience building B2B SaaS, workflow-heavy, data-intensive, scientific, or operational software.
- Previous experience working successfully within a small distributed engineering team.
The Kind of Engineer Who Will Succeed Here
You are comfortable being given a problem rather than a detailed implementation plan.
You can investigate the requirements, ask useful questions, determine an appropriate approach, build the solution, and make sure it works successfully in production.
You care about code quality, but you also understand that strong engineering means delivering useful products, making sensible tradeoffs, and anticipating problems before they reach customers.
Interview Process - The hiring process is expected to include four stages:
- Introductory Conversation — Discussion around your background, working style, and expectations.
- Short Technical Exercise — Approximately 90 minutes, covering React/TypeScript and a Python backend using a fabricated project.
- Technical Discussion — Review of your approach to the exercise along with broader architecture and system-design topics.
- Team Conversation — A final discussion with members of the broader organization focused on collaboration and fit.
Benefits
- Employee-friendly stock grants with fair terms and future liquidity opportunities.
- Work remotely from anywhere, as long as you maintain a minimum 4 hr overlap with the U.S. Pacific Time Zone for synchronous meetings.
- 18 company holidays, up to 20 PTO days, and 8 sick days annually.
- Professional Development: Stipends for training, workshops, and conferences.
- Home Office Equipment: Generous budget to set up a productive workspace.
