We are seeking a seasoned Senior Full-Stack Engineer to lead the development of a cutting-edge privacy-first desktop application. This innovative project transforms lengthy video recordings into searchable knowledge by leveraging local AI capabilities. Our goal is to ensure user privacy while providing powerful search functionalities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a privacy-first desktop application with a strong focus on performance, usability, and maintainability.
- Build a modern desktop application using React, TypeScript, and preferably Tauri (Electron experience is also valuable).
- Design and implement AI-powered features, including semantic search, embeddings, knowledge retrieval, and intelligent navigation.
- Integrate local AI models and optimize the application for efficient on-device inference.
- Contribute to architecture, technical direction, and engineering best practices to ensure a scalable and production-ready product.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with React and TypeScript.
- Proven experience building production desktop applications, preferably with Tauri or Electron.
- Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications using LLMs, embeddings, semantic search, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing maintainable, scalable software.
- Willingness to learn and work with Rust as part of the desktop technology stack if needed.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Rust and the Tauri ecosystem.
- Experience integrating and optimizing local AI models (e.g. Ollama, llama.cpp, ONNX Runtime).
- Familiarity with vector databases such as Qdrant, Chroma, Pinecone, Weaviate, or Milvus.
- Knowledge of modern desktop application architecture and software design patterns.
- Experience building privacy-first or offline-first applications.
