Overview
Client has an in-house-built operational platform (Postgres, Python, TypeScript, hosted on AWS) currently used to manage installer photo uploads, campaign tracking, vehicle/kit availability, and fleet data at scale (millions of data points, multiple large customers). It works but was built by a non-professional team under time pressure. Need someone to take over the existing codebase — not rebuild — and get it production-ready fast.
Responsibilities
- Build API integration capability (none exists yet — enterprise customers will need to connect their own systems; exact specs not yet defined by those customers)
- Build out scheduling module (currently managed in Excel — master sheet per campaign/location/target) and unify it with existing data platform as single source of truth
- Improve UI/UX — functional but rough; needs to look credible to enterprise customers
- Build a customer-facing view (permissioned, shows only approved/completed data — separate from internal working view)
- Work within and extend the existing architecture — must preserve prior work, not rearchitect from scratch
- NDA required before being shown proprietary/customer data (signed after first-stage interview, before technical deep-dive)
Required Skills
- Strong full-stack experience: Python, TypeScript
- PostgreSQL / relational DB fluency, comfortable with large-scale data (millions of rows, high update frequency)
- API design and third-party integration experience
- AWS hosting familiarity
- Strong English communication (spoken)
- Comfortable maintaining/extending an existing codebase rather than rebuilding
Nice to Have
- Logistics/fleet ops platform experience
- Experience with Mac-based teams/back-end compatibility (client team is Mac-based)
- Eastern/Canada time zone overlap (preferred)
