About Walk On Cloud

Walk On Cloud is an early-stage experience platform designed to help parents discover and plan unique local activities. Think of it as Airbnb for experiences—users can browse, create, and share itineraries within a community-driven ecosystem. The product is ~60% complete, and we are seeking a seasoned engineer to audit, refine, and execute Phase 1 (P0) requirements to bring the platform to launch readiness.

Responsibilities

• Audit & Assess: Review existing codebase (Django backend, React frontend, hosted on Railway) to identify broken components, salvageable work, and gaps.

• Backend Execution: Lead backend development, ensuring quality, scalability, and reliability.

• Full Stack Contribution: Support frontend (React) development as needed to ensure seamless integration.

• Infrastructure: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and core product operations.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the founder to align on requirements, deliverables, and timelines.

• Quality Assurance: Ensure high execution quality, with a focus on delivering a stable MVP.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer, with strong emphasis on backend development.
• Expertise in Django and backend architecture.
• Familiarity with React for frontend integration.
• Experience with Railway or similar hosting platforms.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure best practices.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, bootstrapped startup environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Strong frontend expertise in React.
• Prior experience building community-driven or marketplace platforms.
• Familiarity with itinerary planning or travel-tech products.

Engagement Details

• Hours: Flexible, with founder-approved billing. Initial expectation ~20–40 hours/week.
• Duration: Minimum 2 months (100+ hours), with potential extension.
• Rate Range: $65–85/hour worldwide (higher for U.S.-based talent).
• Timezone: Must overlap with U.S. Eastern mornings (9–12 p.m.).
