Converso is an AI-powered omnichannel customer service platform built for SMB service
businesses. We help companies in insurance, financial services, and professional services
talk through AI rather than just to AI — using purpose-built specialised agents, bidirectional
human handover, and multi-workspace architecture to deliver genuinely useful
conversational AI.
Our stack is Java on the backend (LangGraph for agent orchestration), Vue.js on the
frontend, and we ship a customer-facing embeddable widget alongside our main web
application. We’re a small, senior team and every engineer has outsized impact.
We’re looking for a senior frontend engineer to own and elevate the quality of our Vue.js
codebase across two repositories: the main web application and the embeddable customer-
facing widget. You’ll work closely with our backend architect and founding team to ship
reliable, polished product as we approach launch.
Real-time communication is central to what we do. Our widget relies heavily on WebSockets
for live messaging between end users, AI agents, and human operators. You’ll need deep
experience with WebSocket lifecycle management, reconnection strategies, and the edge
cases that come with persistent connections — zombie states, silent disconnections,
message delivery guarantees, and graceful degradation.
• Own frontend architecture and code quality across our Vue.js web application and embeddable widget
• Design and maintain robust WebSocket infrastructure — connection lifecycle, heartbeat/ping-pong, reconnection logic, and message queueing to prevent data loss
• Debug and resolve complex real-time communication issues (zombie connections, race conditions, state synchronisation across tabs/windows)
• Collaborate with our backend architect on API contracts, event schemas, and real-time data flows
• Drive improvements to developer experience: testing, CI/CD pipeline reliability, code review standards
• Mentor and pair with other frontend engineers to raise the overall quality bar
• Contribute to product and UX decisions — we’re a small team and expect engineers to think beyond tickets
• 5+ years of professional frontend development experience
• Deep, production-level expertise with Vue.js (Vue 3, Composition API, Pinia or Vuex)
• Proven experience building and debugging WebSocket-based systems in production — not just consuming a library, but understanding connection state management, error recovery, and edge cases
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals (async patterns, event loops, workers)
• Experience with Web Workers for offloading connection management or heavy computation
• Track record of improving codebases — refactoring, establishing patterns, reducing bug rates
• Comfortable working in a small team with high autonomy and direct access to the product
• Experience building embeddable widgets or third-party JavaScript that runs on customer sites
• Familiarity with real-time messaging patterns (presence, typing indicators, delivery receipts)
• Understanding of AI/LLM integration at the frontend level (streaming responses, tool-use UIs)
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
• Background in SaaS customer service or helpdesk products
• Small, senior team — no layers of management between you and the product
• Remote-first with async communication via Slack
• Java backend with LangGraph agent orchestration; Vue.js frontend
• GitLab for source control and CI/CD
• Direct collaboration with the founder/CEO on priorities and product direction
