Client is building a DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) for IoT connectivity. Its hardware nodes run OpenWrt-based routers that host the network ledger and support multiple wireless protocols, including LoRa, Wi-Fi HaLow, Zigbee, NB-IoT and LTE. The team is now adding a Bitcoin Lightning payment layer to the ecosystem and is building its own branded Lightning wallet on top of the open-source RaspiBlitz project.
The role
You'll own the frontend of client's Lightning wallet. The first phase is a scoped rebrand of the RaspiBlitz web interface. After that, the plan is to extend the wallet into a product tailored to the client's network. This is a long-term role for the right engineer, and Phase 1 is where you both confirm the fit.
Phase 1 (approx. 3–4 weeks)
- Fork and configure the raspiblitz-web repository
- Apply client's brand identity: logos, colors and typography
- Update labels and frontend display logic to rename the "Satoshi" unit to client's own branded unit
- Make sure the UI is consistent and responsive on desktop and mobile
Phase 2 (3+ months)
- Extend the wallet with custom features and integrate it with the client's network
- Work alongside the existing team (Canada and India) and the in-house designer
Must-have
- 5+ years of frontend development with strong TypeScript and React
- Solid working knowledge of Bitcoin and the Lightning Network: channels, invoices, payments, and how a node relates to a wallet
- Comfortable with Git/GitHub workflows, including forking and maintaining upstream open-source projects
- Able to read an unfamiliar codebase and give an accurate hour estimate for scoped work
Strong plus
- Has built or contributed to a Bitcoin/Lightning wallet or node interface, such as RaspiBlitz, RTL, ThunderHub, Umbrel, Zeus, BTCPay Server or Start
- Experience with LND or Core Lightning APIs
- Broader blockchain development experience
- UI/design skills
Engagement details
- 25+ hours/week, with an initial 3-month contract and long-term intent
- Remote, open to any location
