Senior engineer to stabilize an existing AI workflow product — paid trial, potential ongoing ownership

I'm a patent attorney building software for a workflow I know deeply. The application already exists, and I'm looking for an experienced engineer to take ownership of reliability across its frontend, backend, and background processing.

We'll begin with a paid, capped assessment: reproduce one important failure, explain its cause, and deliver a focused fix where feasible. The proposed initial assessment is 10 hours over one week, with the rate and total spending cap agreed before work begins. This is an assessment milestone, not a deadline to repair the whole application. Then we'll agree on the next milestone based on what you find.

You'll work directly with me. I supply domain expertise and acceptance examples; you own engineering diagnosis and execution. I'm looking for someone who has personally taken over an existing codebase, traced problems across services, and demonstrated that a repair works. Please share a specific example, your contribution, your availability, and your proposed rate.

The role is remote and open worldwide, with overlap during US Eastern working hours. There is potential for ongoing part-time work.

This starts as paid contract work, with potential for ongoing technical leadership. If we work well together and share a vision for the product, I'm also open to discussing a deeper business partnership. We'd explore that after gaining experience working together.
