We are seeking a Senior Freelance Bioinformatics + AI/ML Expert with a strong background in evidence-based health and wellness product evaluation systems. The primary objective is to develop a sophisticated AI engine capable of processing product ingredients and descriptions, integrating with scientific databases like PubMed and PubChem, and applying predefined metrics and rules to provide transparent evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine an AI engine that processes and evaluates health product ingredients and descriptions.
- Integrate with scientific databases such as PubMed and PubChem to enhance data accuracy and reliability.
- Implement predefined rule-based and machine learning-enhanced scoring systems based on client-provided metrics.
- Utilize NLP techniques for ingredient parsing and semantic matching to relevant literature and concepts.
- Ensure clean and well-documented code delivery while adhering to NDA requirements.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Python for bioinformatics and AI, utilizing tools like BioPython, PubChemPy, and API integrations.
- Experience with data processing and scoring using Pandas, Numpy, and Scikit-learn or PyTorch.
- Direct experience with PubMed/NCBI APIs, PubChem, and other health/bioinformatics databases.
- Expertise in relevant biology and chemistry domains, such as mitochondrial function, bioavailability, and anti-aging pathways.
- Proven experience in literature mining, compound evaluation, or developing health product analysis tools.
- Strong portfolio, including GitHub repositories or examples of database integrations and scoring algorithm implementations.
- PhD or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science/ML, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
Nice to Have
- Experience working within geographical locations such as the USA, Canada, UK, or Western Europe.
- Familiarity with topics like microbiome, lipid science, chronobiology, hormesis, and dose-response.
