Senior Engineer (Consumer Financial Application) - FT - Worldwide

Role Overview

Join our client in creating an innovative consumer financial application that empowers users to connect their financial accounts, gain insights into their finances, and confidently take action on financial opportunities. We are seeking a Senior Engineer to transform a well-defined product vision into a robust, production-quality MVP that focuses on essential features like consumer sign-in, consent capture, Flinks account connection, account-data ingestion, event/audit recording, and mobile onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze the existing repository, product decisions, journey requirements, and demo/reference applications.
• Reconcile top-down product requirements with existing code to ensure alignment and progress.
• Lead the technical direction for the MVP, ensuring implementations are efficient, durable, and aligned with the product vision.
• Develop and guide efforts across technologies like React Native/Expo, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and provider integrations.
• Set up a practical delivery rhythm with structured review, testing, and documentation practices.
• Assess and prioritize tasks, determining what needs immediate attention versus what can be deferred.
• Assist in screening and coordinating a small team of engineers, QA, and design support.

Required Skills

• Extensive experience as a senior full-stack developer or technical lead on production systems.
• Strong backend expertise, particularly in data modeling, audit trails, events, consent, privacy, and external integrations.
• Proven experience with mobile app development, ideally using React Native/Expo.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Node.js, APIs, and third-party provider integrations.
• Ability to work effectively with existing product decisions and requirements.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to make disciplined tradeoff decisions.

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech, open banking, payments, lending, compliance, or regulated-data environments.
