About the company

Kera is building a trusted, AI‑powered health platform, completely digitising the healthcare eco-system. Some of the main projects include processing insurance claims, building medical AI-copilot, and fraud detection systems in real time.

Our stack combines FastAPI micro‑services, PostgreSQL + NoSQL, event‑driven pipelines, and Azure/Kubernetes infrastructure.

The Role

As our Senior Backend Engineer, you will be the technical anchor of a lean backend team (3 engineers) and a close partner to our ML and product groups.
Expect to drive architectural decisions, turn product requirements into robust, observable services that scale and lift the engineering bar for everything we push to prod.

What You’ll Do

Area Responsibilities
Architecture & Coding
• Design and implement backend services and APIs in Python (FastAPI)
• Model relational & NoSQL data (PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB) for speed and integrity

Quality & Reliability
• Write well‑covered, maintainable code and unit/integration tests
• Introduce structured logging, tracing, and metrics
• Lead code reviews and institute best practices for PR hygiene

Technical Leadership
• Mentor mid‑ and junior engineers and unblock them
• Surface technical debt, propose refactors, and help shape the roadmap

Collaboration
• Translate product ideas into working code
• Work closely with ML engineers

What We’re Looking For

Must‑Have Details

• 5+ years backend development : At least 3 yrs in Python; proven ownership of production architecture and migrations.
• FastAPI (or similar) : Dependency‑injection, async patterns, routers, Pydantic v2.
• DB expertise : Strong in SQL design, indexing, query optimization, comfortable with NoSQL patterns and data archiving strategies.
• Cloud & K8s : Hands‑on with Azure AKS (or EKS/GKE), scaling, observability, cost governance.
• Testing & CI/CD: Built pipelines, enforced coverage, turned flaky tests into deterministic suites.
• Communication: Clear written English; able to justify decisions to engineers and non‑tech stakeholders.

• Exposure to health‑tech or fintech domains (privacy, PII handling, claims)
• Comfort working with LLM‑powered systems
• French language skills
