Senior Backend Developer - GCP - FT - LATAM and Europe/EMEA

Role Overview

Join Tomato.ai as a Senior Backend Developer specializing in GCP. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance audio streaming APIs and backend components. Collaborate with a global team to deliver low-latency, scalable, reliable, and secure solutions. This remote-first role offers the chance to work with a company led by experienced ex-Googlers in the speech space.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance audio streaming APIs, microservices, and backend components.
• Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and develop architectural solutions.
• Ensure low latency, high scalability, reliability, and security of APIs.
• Lead technical discussions and drive the adoption of best practices and standards.
• Enhance API standards and services.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in designing and developing public APIs.
• Strong background in microservice architecture and API standards & frameworks, including gRPC.
• Proficiency in Rust and Python.
• At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience in measuring and troubleshooting PyTorch model inference performance.
• Background in developing streaming APIs, particularly real-time audio streaming APIs.
• Hands-on experience in building infrastructure on GCP capable of handling large-scale traffic.
• Familiarity with site reliability engineering.
