Senior Backend Developer (Fashion Marketplace MVP) - Part-time - LATAM/EMEA/NA

About the Project

We’re working with Kayla, founder of a startup building a peer-to-peer fashion marketplace app, focused on iOS with future Android compatibility. The backend will power a fast, dynamic platform supporting listings, transactions, user messaging, and courier features. The MVP will be used to demo to investors and validate early traction.

What You’ll Build

• A robust backend for a mobile-first fashion marketplace
  APIs to support:
• User management & authentication
• Product listings & search
• Transaction and payment workflows
• Messaging between users
• Courier integration (Uber-like scheduling & delivery status)
• Admin dashboard tools (basic)
• Data storage, retrieval, and scaling logic for future growth
• Quote-accurate Stripe integration

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years experience building production-grade backend systems
• Proficiency in Node.js, Python, or similar scalable backend languages
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs (GraphQL a bonus)
• Familiarity with third-party integrations (e.g., Stripe, courier APIs)
• Understanding of social/marketplace/e-commerce platforms and their core logic
• Passion or appreciation for fashion tech is a nice plus
• Fluent in English; strong communication and documentation habits

Bonus Points

• Experience supporting image-based or social platforms
• Exposure to admin dashboards, moderation, or reporting systems
• Familiarity with mobile-first backend architectures (and performance tuning)
