Senior Backend API Developer (FastAPI + GCP Ecosystem) - FT - Europe, LATAM, NA, Asia

About the role:

We’re hiring a senior backend engineer with deep Python and FastAPI skills to maintain our API layer, orchestrate batch processes, and ensure scalable interaction between our GCP-based infrastructure and frontend layers.

Skills Required:

• 8+ years backend engineering
• Mastery of Python, FastAPI, Docker
• Experience with async processing, dependency injection, and Pydantic
• Fluency with PostgreSQL and noSQL optimization and management
• Familiarity with GCP batch processing, Firestore, and Cloud Run
• Dockerized deployment workflows
• Ability to coordinate closely with front-end (Bubble.io) and batch services
• GitHub, Slack, ClickUp

Requirements:

• Prior experience integrating APIs with LLM pipelines triggering and monitoring batch jobs via fastAPI endpoints
• Experience distinguishing between multiple user roles in a DB and API
• Experience developing APIs for healthcare or regulated industries
• Bubble.io backend integration experience a plus
• Built and maintained API endpoints that serve multiple UIs, including Swagger interfaces
• Integrated real-time status tracking, error messaging, and automated deletion flows
• Troubleshot stuck workflows and missing syncs between front-end and back-end databases
• Managed structured logging, debugging, and standardized error responses (e.g., ERROR + message string)
• Experience interfacing with external parsing flows (e.g., Langroid vs Sequential), allowing backend selection and processing logic
• Created and maintained admin-only APIs for AI flow configuration, user management, and testing resets
• Familiarity with secure file handling and authentication workflows, including secret key headers
• Ability to translate real-world feedback from QA testing into rapid backend updates and sync logic

Ideal to Also Have:

• Built systems to dynamically generate and visualize biomarkers, diagnoses, procedures, and supplement records via RESTful APIs
• Experience working with LOINC code integrations, metadata sync, and longitudinal biomarker data
