Senior Back-end (Python/PostgreSQL) - PT Freelance - Americas

Project Details:

Scale Medicine is building AI-enabled software to empower business development teams at pharmaceutical companies. Our tool integrates various data sources (clinical, biological, and commercial) into a search engine with chat-based queries and comparison tables. The goal is to streamline partnerships and accelerate deal-making in the pharma industry.

Role Responsibilities:

• Enhance and maintain back-end systems written in Python.
• Implement scalable infrastructure (e.g., workers, queues) and seat-based account systems.
• Integrate data streams from external sources into the platform.
• Collaborate with the front-end developer to ensure compatibility.
• Optimize ETL pipelines for efficient data processing and analytics.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in Python with experience in API and back-end development.
• Expertise in distributed systems and Postgres.
• Experience with ETL processes and data engineering tools (e.g., Pandas).
• Ability to work independently and deliver solutions promptly.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with front-end design patterns and basic understanding of Next.js.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform, or Docker.
• Experience with AI/ML workflows or pharma-related datasets.

Details:

• Location Preference: Eastern Time Zone or overlap with EST.
• Hours: Start with ~20 hours/week; ramp up to 40 hours based on performance.
• Contract Duration: 8–12 weeks with potential for extension.
• Start Date: Immediate.
