The Role

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js, SQL, and AI-driven architectures to develop fast, scalable backend systems. You’ll work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and cross-functional teams to implement AI-powered features, enhance data processing pipelines, and optimize system performance. This role is ideal for engineers passionate about sports tech, AI, and high-scale applications.

What You’ll Do

• Build & Optimize: Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance server infrastructure that processes large volumes of data in real-time.
• AI-Driven Development: Work with AI models and LLMs to build intelligent features, enhance data insights, and improve automation.
• Feature Development: Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to build new AI-enhanced features that optimize user experiences.
• Seamless Integration: Work with frontend engineers and data teams to integrate backend services with AI-powered analytics and automation tools.
• Data & Performance: Utilize dbt, Google BigQuery, and AI-driven optimization techniques to enhance data processing and performance.
• Problem-Solving: Learn and apply new AI and cloud-based technologies to tackle complex backend challenges.
• Debug & Maintain: Assist in triaging bugs and troubleshooting production issues.
• Mentor & Review: Provide mentorship to junior engineers and conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

✅ Must-Have Experience:
• Proficiency in Node.js for backend development
• Strong knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL
• Experience working with GraphQL APIs
• Expertise in building scalable applications
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience with Google BigQuery and dbt for data transformation
• Understanding of AI-driven architectures and how to integrate LLMs into backend systems

🔹 Nice-to-Have Experience:
• Experience with LLMs, AI pipelines, or ML-based recommendation systems
• Knowledge of vector databases and embedding-based search
• Familiarity with AI-powered sports analytics or predictive modeling
• Experience in small startup environments
