We need an experienced QGIS professional to help us stand up a new QGIS instance from scratch for long-distance telecommunications route mapping (300+ kilometers). We're moving from web-based mapping tools to QGIS to handle large datasets with multiple layers without system crashes.
• Set up a new QGIS instance (advise on QGIS cloud vs. local server setup)
• Configure the application with best practices based on your experience
• Get all menus and features working properly
• Set up QField mobile app for field data collection technicians
• Provide recommendations on integrations and additional capabilities as we go
• Standing up QGIS from scratch and making setup recommendations
• Configuring layers for handling large government datasets (streams, railroads, infrastructure)
• Setting up the system to handle very long routes without crashing
• Advising on whether to use QGIS cloud, web application, or local server
• Training our team on the setup
• Potential QField mobile app configuration for field technicians
• Proven experience standing up new QGIS instances (this is the key requirement)
• Hands-on knowledge of QGIS setup and configuration
• Experience with coordinate-based mapping systems
• Ability to make practical recommendations based on past implementations
• Experience with telecommunications, utilities, or long-distance route mapping
• QField mobile app setup experience
• Knowledge of handling large geospatial datasets
• Duration: ~2 months initially (may extend based on additional needs)
• Work Arrangement: Fully remote
