Engagement type: Contract, part-time (~20 hrs/week), 3-month initial term with extension/full-time potential
Overlap: 4+ hours with India Standard Time
About the role
Basil runs a B2B SaaS platform where retailers and manufacturers track quality inspections and testing results. Our mobile app is used by inspectors and quality personnel in the field — on factory floors, frequently with unreliable connectivity. Partners are asking for more customization than the current app can support without dedicated dev support. This role maintains and extends the existing mobile app and takes on partner-specific customization requests.
What you'll do
- This role owns the mobile app: building partner-specific add-on modules on top of it, and maintaining what has already shipped.
- Build new add-on modules on top of our existing React Native app. The near-term work is a multi-step inspection workflow (style and PO selection, AQL planning, packing and measurement audits, visual audit, results) and an incident reporting flow, both ported from our existing web portal
- Build custom features in response to partner and client requests as they come in
- Work closely with the founder-side product lead and existing engineering team (one engineer typically dedicated per partner)
- Work with our backend team to define and consume the APIs these modules require (AWS, MySQL)
- Implement reliable in-app photo capture and attachment for defect logging, with offline-tolerant data capture and sync for use inside factories
What you'll need
- 3+ years building production React Native applications, ideally shipped to both iOS and Android
- Experience integrating with cloud backends (AWS) and relational databases (MySQL)
- Comfortable working semi-independently on partner-specific builds with light spec, not heavy documentation
- Comfortable consuming REST APIs and collaborating with backend engineers on API design
- Experience with device camera and image handling, and with offline-first or intermittent-connectivity data patterns
- Nice to have: exposure to TIC, supply chain, or B2B SaaS platforms — not required
- Nice to have: Flutter
