At HomeCooks, a two-sided marketplace that sells high-quality frozen ready meals made by independent food creators, we are looking for a dynamic developer to join our team. As a tech business we don’t actually cook any of the food, we just connect chefs to hungry customers across the UK. This role is key in facilitating that connection.

About the Role

As a Mid-level Full-Stack Developer, you'll develop and maintain our web presence, optimising it for UI/UX, speed, and scalability. You'll build upon our existing Shopify storefront and integrate multiple apps/tools that power our marketplace operations. This role offers the opportunity to shape our tech stack as we prepare for scale.

Your focus will be launching features that drive conversion and retention. You'll also work on projects supporting other business areas, including internal tools and chef-focused solutions. Long-term plans include exploring additional platforms, potentially including mobile apps.

You'll need strong full-stack development experience and mastery of our required skills. We value candidates who stay current with tech trends and UI/UX methodologies, capable of leveraging data and analytics to enhance both technical and non-technical products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain our web storefront with a focus on UI/UX, performance, and scalability
• Launch new features targeting conversion and retention improvements
• Build internal tools supporting business operations and chef management
• Contribute to our technical roadmap, focusing on feature scoping and effort estimation

Required Skills

Essential Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in Full-Stack web development
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Node.js, RESTful APIs and GitHub
• Understanding of SEO best practices
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a small team

Preferred Skills:

• Solid understanding of Shopify Liquid development, Storefront API and Shopify App development.
• Knowledge of GraphQL and Apollo Client
• Proficiency with modern frameworks (React, Next.js)
• Familiarity with serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Vercel)
• Experience with e-commerce, food tech or marketplace platforms
