Lead Mobile React Native Developer (WW-PT)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior, hands-on Lead React Native Developer to spearhead the architecture and development of an innovative live-sports companion app. This app will serve as a comprehensive platform for sports enthusiasts, offering live scores, schedules, statistics, venue maps, personalized notifications, and fan accounts. The project aims for a spring 2027 launch, utilizing a shared codebase across iOS and Android to ensure reliable performance and offline caching.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture and development of the app across iOS and Android platforms.
• Develop complex features such as live scores, schedules, statistics, and venue functionalities.
• Integrate real-time data sources and APIs, ensuring seamless updates and robust error handling.
• Implement offline caching and synchronization to enhance user experience in areas with limited connectivity.
• Make informed architecture decisions using React Native, Firebase/Firestore, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Design responsive mobile interfaces for intuitive data navigation and understanding.
• Mentor junior developers, delegating tasks and conducting code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate progress, identify risks, and align development with project timelines.
• Oversee the mobile development process for app release on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Required Skills

• Extensive production experience with React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Proven track record of launching complex mobile applications on both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Demonstrated ownership of app architecture and complex feature development from conception to launch.
• Expertise in integrating real-time data and APIs into mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with Firebase/Firestore and familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.
• Competence in implementing push notifications, user authentication, and account-based features.
• Experience in offline caching, data synchronization, and mobile performance optimization.
• Leadership skills to guide development independently while mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical decisions and tradeoffs clearly.

Nice to Have

• Experience with sports apps featuring live scores, athlete profiles, and venue experiences.
• Background in game apps with scoreboards and progression systems.
• Experience with data-heavy apps, such as those handling large datasets or statistics.
• Direct sports industry experience is advantageous, but not mandatory.
• Experience working directly with external clients is a plus.
