Job Description: Lead Graphic Designer
Million Marker is an early-stage startup based in Berkeley, CA, that provides mail-in urine tests to help people learn about their exposure to environmental toxicants. We particularly target preconception couples, but we also hope to educate everyone about the health impact of these exposures and inspire a healthier
environment for all.
The Lead Graphic Designer at Million Marker (MM) plays a pivotal role in promoting health literacy and brand awareness through the creation of engaging and informative visuals across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Chief Communication Officer, this position is responsible for managing all graphic projects, maintaining brand consistency, and contributing to the company's visual communication strategies. This is a remote position with a flexible work schedule and competitive pay.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Creation
- Create graphics for various applications, including social media, website, report
infographics, research grant proposals, presentations, and other print and web media.
- Design infographics for social media platforms and blog posts.
- Develop compelling pitch decks for potential customers, affiliates, funders and investors.
- Create and use adaptable templates for social media content, including weekly
Instagram live posts in multiple sizes and carousel infographics. Web and Digital Media
- Regularly update and maintain the MM websites, including Shopify updates.
- Design interactive web and app mock-ups for use by web developers and software engineers.
- Transform raw footage into engaging Reels and edit Instagram Lives into short-form teasers with music for YouTube.
- Upload and optimize YouTube files and page.
- Edit audio of Instagram Lives for podcasts, and upload to Spotify for Podcasters. Project Management
- Manage ongoing graphics projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams including the science, engineering and marketing teams.
- Archive and manage legacy assets.
- Communicate project status, practicality concerns, and creative solutions to team members.
- Brainstorm and propose innovative ideas for future projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in branding, social media graphics, and front-end web design.
- Reliable internet connection and access to basic video and audio editing systems.
- Must be available for a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with (or willingness to learn) Shopify.
- Must have a beginner to moderate understanding of coding for Shopify updates.
- Knowledge of video editing, UX design, and basic understanding of HTML and CSS preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to multitask without supervision and meet tight deadlines in a remote environment.
- Understanding of the nuances of each social media platform and the ability to customize content for specific audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to create animations is a plus.
