Lead Full-Stack Developer (Web App / Capacitor) - Part-time - EU/EMEA

About us:

Futurekind Technologies is an early‑stage startup building a mobile application for university students across the UK. Our mission is to transform how students experience their university journey by connecting them with activities, opportunities, and communities on‑campus and beyond.

Project Brief:

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Full-Stack Developer to take the lead in building the mobile version of the app. This is a unique opportunity to be the founding developer, shaping the product from the ground up.

There is an initial prototype web-app already built using React, Typescript, & Tailwind CSS, with a Supabase backend. The plan is to finalise this build with more features (frontend & backend) and wrap it (e.g. Capacitor) for deployment as a mobile app on iOS and Android.This will include implementing best practices (authentication, database policies, pagination, caching etc), and using Capacitor to expose the app to native mobile features including camera, geolocation, and push notifications. There is also work to be done for integrating into APIs such as Mapbox (for pre-filling & verifying addresses), Reloadly (for redeeming points as gift cards) as well as content recommendation engine.

Crucially, we operate on a fixed timeline:

Month 1 Goal (end of June): Deliver a functional Minimum Viable Product (MVP) focused on core student features (e.g., user accounts, posting/viewing activities, basic discovery) ready for initial user testing.

Month 3 Goal (August): Iterate rapidly based on feedback, launching a more feature-rich version including business functionalities, enhanced discovery, and first reward system elements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle: design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain the web application and its wrapper.
• Develop both frontend (web interface) and backend (API, database) components.
• Implement the Capacitor (or similar) to enable native mobile app functionality (e.g., camera access, push notifications, etc).
• Set up CI/CD and hosting pipelines for efficient, reliable deployments.
• Work autonomously to meet aggressive timelines and collaborate closely with the founder on priorities.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven track record as a Full-Stack Developer with demonstrable experience delivering projects rapidly.
• Experienced in submitting apps to the app store/play store.
• Expertise in a modern frontend framework (React preferred).
• Strong proficiency in backend development.
• Solid experience with database design and management ( PostgreSQL preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Capacitor (or Cordova/Ionic) for building web-based mobile apps.
• Experience deploying web applications (e.g., Vercel, Netlify, AWS, Heroku).

Desired (Bonus) Skills:

• Good eye for UI/UX design and usability.
• Experience submitting apps to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks.
• Previous experience in an early-stage startup.
