Lead Full-Stack Developer (Node.js / React / MongoDB) - AI-Forward Company
About Us
Store & Haul, Inc. is a family-owned food-grade kosher tanker trucking company based in Ohio. We operate 43 trucks, 120+ stainless steel tankers, certified kosher tank wash facilities, and roughly 60 employees. We are building an AI-first operational platform that will transform how a mid-size logistics company runs, and we need a developer who wants to be at the center of that.
This is not a corporate dev shop. You will work directly with the CEO, who sets the architecture and product vision. You build it, test it, and ship it. If you want ownership, autonomy, and the chance to build something meaningful from the ground up, keep reading.
The Role
We are looking for a lead full-stack developer (with potential team support behind you) to serve as our primary technical builder. You will be responsible for completing and maintaining two active applications, supporting existing automation tools, and eventually helping us build a closed-loop AI agent system that runs core business operations.
We expect you to use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) daily to multiply your output 5x to 10x. We are not interested in developers who write every line by hand. We want someone who leverages AI to move fast, ship quality code, and operate at the productivity level of a small team. If you are not already using AI-assisted development as a core part of your workflow, this role is not for you.
Core Responsibilities
Immediate Projects
- Complete our internal operations platform (Global Data) built on Node.js, React, and MongoDB. This platform is approximately 80% finished and serves as the central hub for our business applications and AI agents.
- Complete our payroll application, also built on Node.js, React, and MongoDB, used by our payroll team for driver pay processing and compliance.
Ongoing Responsibilities
- Learn and support existing Google Apps Script automation tools (driver hiring intelligence, load tracking integrations, time tracking, compliance monitoring). These are production systems that need maintenance and occasional enhancements until we can migrate their functionality into Global Data.
- Write thorough tests for all code. We need comprehensive test coverage so that final QA on staging is a smooth process, not a bug hunt. You own quality before it reaches staging.
- Participate in architecture and planning discussions during overlapping work hours. The CEO provides specs and architecture direction, but collaboration and input are valued.
Future Vision (3 to 6 Months and Beyond)
- Help build and expand a closed-loop AI agent system. We currently run AI agents (built on OpenClaw) for Sales and Dispatch via Microsoft Teams. The long-term vision is an AI agent for every department: HR, Tank Wash, Maintenance, Safety, and Command.
- Build integrations between Global Data and these AI agents via scoped API tokens and an MCP server, making Global Data the central nervous system of the business.
- Implement MongoDB Atlas Vector Search for semantic search across call transcripts, emails, and operational data.
- Continuously find ways to use AI to accelerate development, reduce manual processes, and build systems that improve themselves over time.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of professional experience with Node.js, React, and MongoDB
- Strong experience with REST API design and implementation
- Proven ability to write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end)
- Active, daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent). We will ask you to demonstrate this.
- Experience working as a sole developer or lead developer on a project (not just contributing to a large team)
- Ability to pick up unfamiliar codebases quickly. You will inherit existing systems and need to learn them fast.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Willingness to work hours that overlap with US Eastern Time for collaboration and architecture discussions
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with AI/LLM integration (RAG systems, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, agent frameworks)
- Experience with Microsoft Graph API and Microsoft 365 integrations
- Experience with Google Apps Script
- Familiarity with the trucking, logistics, or transportation industry
- Experience with Samsara, 3CX, or similar fleet/communication platforms
- Azure or cloud infrastructure experience
How We Work
- The CEO provides application specs, architecture, and product direction. Sometimes collaboratively, but usually with a clear picture of what needs to be built.
- You build it, test it thoroughly, and deploy it to staging. The CEO does a final walkthrough before production.
- We use structured handoff documents to maintain continuity across sessions and projects.
- We value reliability and consistency above all else. Showing up, communicating clearly, and delivering on commitments matters more than brilliance.
- We move fast. AI-assisted development is not optional. It is how we operate.
Engagement Details
- Minimum 40 hours per week, dedicated
- Long-term engagement (this is not a short-term project)
- Budget: Competitive rate for the right candidate. We are looking for a long-term partner, not the cheapest option.
- Must be available for regular calls and collaboration during US Eastern business hours
How to Stand Out
- Show us a project where you were the primary or sole developer and owned the full stack
- Tell us how you use AI tools in your daily development workflow, with specific examples
- Demonstrate that you can learn new systems quickly, not just build from scratch
- Show evidence of strong testing practices in your past work
We are building something ambitious for a company our size. If you want to be the developer who helps a real business transform through technology and AI, we want to talk to you.
