About Me

I'm the co-founder of Wakeout (iOS App of the Year 2020), a full-stack developer (AWS/Python to iOS/Swift), and I'm building an AI-powered workout app. I'm looking for a developer to help build this MVP and potentially work together on future projects. I have a heavy emphasis on user experience - every technical decision should serve a smooth, responsive interface. For example, workout routine generation needs to feel instant to the user, so I'm using an asynchronous architecture where the iOS app initiates AI generation via Lambda, continues responding to user input, and seamlessly syncs the completed routine back through AppSync when ready. This kind of full-stack thinking is what I'm looking for.

The Project

I'm building a minimalistic workout routine creator that uses AI to generate personalized exercise routines. Users talk to the app (or type), and it creates, modifies, and refines workout routines tailored to their needs.

Key Features:

• Voice-to-text workout editing using GPT Whisper
• AI routine generation (Claude/GPT integration)
• Real-time sync between iOS app and cloud
• Workout playback with timers and counters
• Clean, minimal design (no typical "fitness app" aesthetics)
• Share routines to web

Target Users: People who already understand fitness and want a better way to create and customize routines on the fly.

iOS:

• Swift, SwiftUI
• Native iOS development
• Sign in with Apple (via Clerk)
• Amplify AppSync for real-time data sync

AWS Backend:

• Serverless architecture (SAM/CloudFormation)
• Lambda functions (Python)
• DynamoDB for data storage
• AWS AppSync (GraphQL) for real-time sync
• API Gateway
• Clerk for authentication/authorization

AI/LLM:

• Claude/GPT API integration for workout generation
  *Voice-to-text processing (Whisper API)

What's Already Built

I've set up the initial project structure and design:
✅ Base AWS SAM project structure
✅ Working Sign in with Apple via Clerk
✅ Base user DAO with DynamoDB
✅ AppSync configuration started
✅ iOS project with working auth flow
✅ Complete UI/UX design (all screens designed, ready to implement)

You'll be building the AWS backend and iOS frontend based on existing foundations and designs.

Required Skills

Must Have (Both Required):

• ✅ iOS Development: Swift, SwiftUI, native iOS patterns, App Store experience
• ✅ AWS Backend: Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, AppSync, serverless architecture
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, or similar)
• Real-time data sync patterns (AppSync/GraphQL or equivalent)
• Strong understanding of full-stack data flow (mobile → API → database)

Nice to Have:

• Clerk authentication experience
• New Relic or similar logging/monitoring
• Voice processing (Whisper API)
• Previous AI/ML integration work
