Independent Code Reviewer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Independent Code Reviewer to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. Your primary responsibility will be to review AI-assisted code at various project milestones, ensuring code quality and adherence to best practices. This role requires approximately 8 hours of commitment per month.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough reviews of AI-generated code, providing clear and prioritized written feedback.
• Evaluate code for compliance with industry standards, focusing on robustness and maintainability.
• Ensure proper integration and functionality of Stripe payments, including webhooks, authorization holds, delayed capture, refunds, and idempotency.
• Assess application security measures, including authentication, multi-factor authentication (MFA), session management, and authorization/access control, aligning with OWASP Top 10 guidelines.
• Review database design, schema, migrations, constraints, and ensure reliable audit-trails or append-only records.
• Analyze background jobs and scheduling implementations using tools like Sidekiq or Solid Queue.
• Oversee AWS, CI, and GitHub workflows to ensure seamless integration and deployment.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of production experience with Ruby on Rails (7.x/8.x) and PostgreSQL, including recent work on current versions.
• Expertise in Stripe payments integration and management.
• Strong understanding of application security principles and practices.
• Proficiency in database design and management.
• Experience with background jobs and scheduling systems.
• Familiarity with AWS, CI, and GitHub workflows.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of cryptographic hashing and timestamping.
• Experience in fintech or legal-tech sectors.
