Get Set Games is converting Mega Run — a beloved iOS auto runner with millions of downloads — into an HTML5 web experience. The initial scope is focused on one fully playable level with core gameplay intact: no menus, no in-app purchases, no third-party integrations. Just smooth, polished gameplay running in a browser.
This is a greenfield web build informed by an existing Objective-C/iOS codebase. You won't be compiling the original app — you'll be reading it to understand game logic and assets, then rebuilding the experience using modern web game technologies.
• Review the existing Objective-C/iOS codebase to extract and understand core game logic, physics, and level structure
• Recommend the best HTML5/JavaScript game framework for this project (e.g. Phaser 3, PixiJS, Cocos Creator) and justify your choice
• Implement the parallax scrolling auto runner gameplay in the chosen framework
• Ensure the game runs smoothly across modern web browsers with solid performance and visual fidelity
• Communicate progress transparently — the client will set milestones and you'll log hours weekly
• Flag scope risks or timeline concerns early so adjustments can be made
• Strong hands-on experience with HTML5 and JavaScript game development
• Proficiency with at least one 2D web game framework (Phaser 3, PixiJS, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret Objective-C/iOS code (compilation not required)
• Experience with parallax scrolling or side-scrolling game mechanics on the web
• Strong communication and ability to self-manage on a remote contract
• Prior experience converting a native mobile game to a web platform
• Familiarity with 2D physics engines (Arcade Physics, Matter.js, Box2D)
• Experience with sprite sheet tools such as TexturePacker
• Background in game design or UX for games
• Based in Ontario, Canada (eligible for client's SR&ED/tax credit program)
The client is open to discussing what can realistically be delivered within the hour range — if 160 hours isn't enough to complete the full scope, partial delivery is acceptable. Either way, the work is there and the project is moving forward.
The client is a seasoned game studio based in Toronto with a track record of successful mobile titles. They're collaborative, direct, and easy to work with.
The ideal candidate has shipped a 2D web game or converted a mobile game to browser before. Share relevant portfolio links or examples — even a demo or prototype speaks volumes. If you have a strong framework opinion and can back it up, that's a great sign you're the right fit.
