Fullstack Developer (Langchain, Typescript) - Full-time - APAC/EMEA

The Project Vision

FableForge is a next-generation, AI-native platform for creating and playing deep, interactive narrative experiences. We are a lean, bootstrapped company with a powerful vision and a detailed technical architecture. The core innovation is a sophisticated AI engine that uses a LangChain.js RAG pipeline to generate dynamic stories.

The Initial Mission (Up to 3 Month Contract with potential to extend based on evolving requirements)

The mission is to build the complete, business-ready backend foundation for the entire platform. The key deliverable is a robust, production-ready API that includes three pillars:

• The core AI Narrative Engine.
• The full Business Logic for users and commerce (Authentication & Payments).
• The architectural Frontend Scaffolding for a future UI specialist.

The Ideal Candidate: A Full-Stack Architect (Backend Specialization)

We are seeking a Principal Backend & AI Engineer. The ideal candidate is a true backend architect (80% of the focus) who is also proficient in setting up modern frontend projects and integrating critical third-party services.

Primary Responsibilities (The Backend Core):

• Architect and own our core Headless Narrative Engine, including the complex, multi-source Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system using LangChain.js.
• Integrate Core Business Systems: Implement and manage the full lifecycle for user authentication and payments, including secure backend webhooks and database integration.
• Design and build our scalable API using Hono, structuring all core business logic.
• Structure and manage our data layer, including the pgvector implementation.

Secondary Responsibilities (The Frontend Foundation):

• Scaffold the Next.js (App Router) application and establish the architectural patterns for a clean API integration layer and component library.
• Note: This role is not responsible for building a styled, user-facing UI.

Required Expertise & Keywords

Core Expertise (Non-Negotiable):

• AI Orchestration: Deep, production-level experience building and optimizing RAG pipelines with LangChain.js.
• Vector Database Strategy: Mastery of vector search and metadata filtering with PostgreSQL/pgvector.
• API Architecture: Expert-level experience designing scalable APIs (Hono) with TypeScript.
• Third-Party API Integration: Proven experience integrating critical services like payment gateways and authentication providers.
  Frontend Architectural Proficiency (Required):
• Proven experience setting up modern Next.js projects and establishing a robust architectural foundation.
