Fullstack Developer (AI-Native) - Full-time - Worldwide

About the Company

Kahunas is a highly profitable, bootstrapped SaaS platform serving users globally. We help coaches manage their clients across workouts, nutrition, check-ins, and biometric data from wearables.

Over the last 6–9 months, we’ve rebuilt our platform into a modern, modular, AI-first architecture. We’re ~90% complete and preparing for alpha release in January, with a clear path to production and long-term expansion.

AI is not a bolt-on here - it’s baked into the product and how we build it.

Why This Role Exists

We are a small, highly effective team of 5 by embracing AI-assisted engineering. Now we’re looking to bring in 2–3 engineers who truly “get it” - people who can help us cross the final stretch to alpha and then continue evolving the platform long-term.

This is not about churning tickets. This is about engineering, problem-solving, and building something meaningful.

Tech Stack (Core)

You’ll spend ~80% of your time here:

• TypeScript
• React
• TanStack
• JSON

Contextual stack knowledge (important, but not isolated backend work):

• Bun
• Hono
• Drizzle ORM
• PostgreSQL

We don’t draw hard lines between “frontend” and “backend.” You’ll need to understand how data, APIs, and schemas fit together, even if your focus is UI and UX.

What You’ll Do

• Build and refine modern, performant frontend experiences using React + TypeScript
• Work across the “grey area” between frontend and backend in a TanStack-driven architecture
• Collaborate with a small, senior team to finalize alpha and ship to production
• Leverage AI coding tools intentionally to move faster without sacrificing quality
• Break down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions
• Contribute ideas, improvements, and architectural thinking — not just code
• Participate in a weekly 2-hour team session to share progress, learnings, and ideas

• You understand that AI accelerates great engineers — it doesn’t replace them
• You know how to evaluate AI-generated code and fit it into a larger system

Technical Expectations

• Strong experience with TypeScript and React
• Familiarity with modern frontend patterns and state management
• Solid understanding of APIs, schemas, and data flow
• Comfortable working in a full-stack environment, even if frontend-leaning
• Able to read, reason about, and improve unfamiliar codebases
