About the work
We are a boutique marketing agency working primarily in the sci-fi and LitRPG publishing space. We support authors and publishers through paid advertising, launch strategy, newsletters, and ongoing growth marketing across a large catalog of titles.
We are looking for a full-time, contract-based Amazon Ads specialist to own the strategy, execution, and optimization side of Amazon advertising campaigns for books.
This is not an entry-level ads role.
This is not a general social media marketing role.
It is specifically focused on managing and scaling Amazon Ads campaigns that drive profitable book sales.
What you'll actually be doing
- Planning, launching, and optimizing Amazon Ads campaigns for eBooks, paperback, and hardcover books.
- Managing large portfolios of campaigns across multiple authors, series, and genres simultaneously.
- Making strategic budget decisions based on performance data and profitability targets.
- Performing daily optimization work: bid adjustments, keyword expansion, ASIN targeting, search term analysis, campaign restructuring, etc.
- Building and maintaining organized keyword and competitor targeting databases.
- Analyzing campaign performance and submitting weekly reporting updates.
- Researching market trends, competitive positioning, and new AMS opportunities within sci-fi, fantasy, LitRPG, progression fantasy, and related genres.
- Collaborating with the broader marketing team during launches and promotions when timelines shift unexpectedly.
- Communicating clearly when something is underperforming, needs escalation, or requires additional support.
What we're looking for
- Proven Amazon Ads experience with digital books specifically is ideal.
- A deep understanding of AMS targeting structures, campaign types, bidding strategies, and optimization workflows.
- Someone who is highly analytical and comfortable making decisions from incomplete or imperfect data.
- Strong organizational skills; you can manage large campaign structures cleanly and consistently.
- Experience handling meaningful ad spend across many campaigns simultaneously.
- Clear written communication in English and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Reliability. Publishing deadlines are not suggestions.
What we're NOT looking for
- Someone who “also does Amazon ads” as part of being a general marketer.
- Beginners still learning the AMS platform.
- A VA-style campaign assistant who only follows instructions without understanding strategy.
- An agency outsourcing work through layered account managers.
- A full-service marketer trying to split focus across SEO, TikTok, influencer outreach, and paid ads all at once.
- Agencies.
Logistics
- Full-time, ongoing, volume will vary by launch schedule but expect consistent work
- Remote, async-friendly
- Client is based in the publishing industry
