About the Company

Canvastry is developing a custom print-on-demand e-commerce integration solution that connects with platforms like Shopify, Squarespace, and Etsy. The system will enable customers to create accounts, save designs, place wholesale orders, and automatically receive tracking information when orders are fulfilled by Canvastry.

We’ve completed high-fidelity mockups and are entering the development phase of a 3-month MERN stack project. We’re seeking a Fractional CTO / Development Consultant to provide technical oversight and ensure successful delivery.

Role Overview:

Canvastry is seeking an experienced Fractional CTO / Development Consultant to lead a critical 3-month MERN stack project. The project involves building a print-on-demand e‑commerce integration solution with platforms such as Shopify, Squarespace, and Etsy.

Engagement Details:

Commitment: ~2–3 hours per week (fractional/part-time)
Duration: 3 months (immediate need; potential for extension)
Start Date: Within 1–2 weeks

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic technical leadership and decision-making throughout the project
• Oversee project management to ensure milestones are met on time
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
• Review and enhance project documentation to support seamless handoff and testing
• Recommend and oversee architectural decisions and platform integrations (Shopify, Squarespace, Etsy)
• Maintain regular communication through weekly status updates and risk mitigation guidance
• Serve as the key technical liaison for Canvastry and the development team

Requirements

• Location: US-based, able to work in Canvastry’s time zone
• Proven experience as a CTO, Tech Lead, or senior engineering consultant
• Strong background in the MERN stack (React.js, Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB)
• Experience with e-commerce APIs and platform integrations (Shopify, Squarespace, Etsy preferred)
• Excellent project management skills for small, focused development teams
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a fractional/part-time advisory capacity
