Join our innovative early-stage team as a Founding iOS Engineer to develop a cutting-edge native iOS application in the digital-wellbeing space. Our mission is to create an app that fosters user awareness, mindfulness, and healthier device relationships, beyond basic app blocking. As a senior iOS engineer, you will take on a pivotal role, establishing the technical foundation and driving the app's journey from prototype to App Store launch and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the existing Swift and SwiftUI codebase, deciding on retention, refactoring, or rebuilding strategies.
- Architect and evolve the core iOS application from a non-functional prototype to a polished, production-ready product.
- Implement Apple’s Screen Time API features, including FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings, and ManagedSettingsUI.
- Build and maintain iOS app extensions, managing App Groups, shared containers, and cross-process communication.
- Develop core product experiences such as onboarding, permissions, and user-facing Screen Time workflows.
- Translate designs into responsive SwiftUI interfaces and integrate authentication, analytics, and subscription features.
- Conduct extensive testing on physical devices to resolve extension-related and framework issues.
- Prepare and release builds through TestFlight, supporting App Store submission and post-launch maintenance.
- Establish robust engineering practices and communicate technical risks and trade-offs.
- Support ongoing product maintenance, iteration, and new feature development.
Required Skills
- Senior-level expertise in native iOS development with Swift and SwiftUI.
- Direct experience with Apple’s Screen Time API ecosystem, including FamilyControls and DeviceActivity.
- Proficiency in building and shipping iOS app extensions and managing App Groups.
- Proven track record in shipping consumer iOS applications through TestFlight and the App Store.
- Strong understanding of iOS architecture, state management, and performance.
- Ability to transform incomplete products into stable, production-ready applications.
- Experience in debugging and testing Apple Screen Time functionality on physical devices.
- Strong product judgment and decision-making abilities in early-stage environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience in digital-wellbeing, parental-control, or screen-time applications.
- Background in successful consumer iOS products with significant user bases.
- Familiarity with RevenueCat, Adapty, and hosted authentication platforms.
- Proficiency in product analytics tools like PostHog or Mixpanel.
- Strong visual judgment and attention to UX details and product feel.
- Knowledge of Swift concurrency, async/await, Combine, and modern iOS patterns.
- Previous experience as a founding engineer or lead technical owner of a mobile application.
