We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to lead a critical project aimed at auditing and documenting our Snowflake data warehouse. Due to limited documentation and the departure of the original architect, the warehouse has become a "black box." Your primary objective will be to uncover its structure, map data flows, and provide clear documentation to restore confidence in our reporting and analytics capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive audit of the Snowflake data warehouse, cataloging all databases, schemas, and tables while distinguishing actively used objects from orphaned or redundant ones.
- Review and document the transformation logic in dbt models, identifying fragile or undocumented models that feed into Power BI, Excel, and 42 Technologies.
- Assess the ERP data pipeline, specifically the Data Virtuality to Snowflake ingestion layer for SAP Business One data, and validate downstream dbt transformations.
- Evaluate governance, compliance, and security aspects, including Snowflake RBAC, user permissions, and data access controls, ensuring adherence to business and regulatory standards.
- Scope and recommend semantic models to enhance BI consistency.
- Produce lightweight yet durable documentation for all findings and recommendations to facilitate internal team continuity.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in SQL.
- Extensive experience with Snowflake.
- Strong knowledge of dbt.
- Expertise in semantic modeling.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with ERP data.
- Experience with Data Virtuality.
- Knowledge of Fivetran.
- Proficiency in Power BI.
- Understanding of data governance and RBAC.
- Skills in technical documentation.
