Project Summary

• HTD Health is seeking a highly skilled Tableau data specialist/engineer to establish robust, centralized data connections and prepare data within our Tableau Server environment hosted on AWS EC2.
• Specifically we are looking for someone to connect data which currently resides in various third-party SaaS platforms which we use for our operational activities to a centralized database which we can explore via Tableau.
• This work will require describing a data model for all data to be stored in Tableau and then writing workflows which read from either exports from source systems or API’s to continuously keep this database up to date.

Project Context

• We believe a centralized Tableau system will improve reporting efficiency, provide transparent views of project delivery, budgets, revenues, and pipelines, and foster a shared understanding of progress and success metrics across the organization. This project phase focuses explicitly on building the necessary data infrastructure in Tableau to support this vision.

Project Objectives

➔ Establish Secure Data Connectivity: Securely connect Tableau Server to various identified data sources (e.g., Quickbooks, Primetric, HubSpot, Enova)
➔ Data Modeling & Preparation: Model, transform, and prepare raw data to ensure it is clean, accurate, and optimized for dashboard creation within Tableau
➔ Data Centralization: Contribute to centralizing financial and operational reporting by making data available in a structured, consistent, and accessible manner within Tableau.
➔ Address Critical Data Gaps: Specifically focus on addressing and implementing solutions for any data gaps to enable comprehensive reporting.

Key Deliverables

➔ Secure Data Source Connections: Verified, stable, and performant connections from our Tableau Server (on AWS EC2) to the following:
○ Primetric
○ Enova
○ Quickbooks
○ HubSpot
➔ Clean & Modeled Data Sources in Tableau: Data sources published to Tableau Server that are:
○ Optimized for performance, considering daily refresh needs for most reports
○ Logically modeled with correct relationships, calculated fields and hierarchies
○ Free of major data quality issues
➔ Technical Discovery Report: A brief report outlining discovered API authentication methods and other critical technical details for each unconnected system, based on a brief technical discovery phase.
➔ Documentation: Clear documentation of all established data connections, data models, transformations performed, and any specific considerations or limitations. This documentation should be geared towards maintainability and future scalability.

Required Skills & Experience:

➔ Proven expertise in Tableau data preparation
➔ Strong SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and optimization.
➔ Extensive experience connecting Tableau to a wide range of data sources (SaaS
applications via API, databases, spreadsheets).
➔ Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices for data integrity and performance, with an eye towards future scalability on AWS
➔ Familiarity with AWS environments and security principles (e.g., VPN, cloud security policies)
➔ Problem-solving attitude with a focus on identifying and addressing data quality/completeness challenges
➔ Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders
➔ Ability to work independently, manage project timelines, and document work thoroughly

Environment & Security:

➔ Tableau Environment: Tableau Server hosted on AWS EC2
➔ Data Access: VPN access will be required. Adherence to strict internal cloud security
policies is mandatory due to data sensitivity.
