Mightycause is an innovative online fundraising platform dedicated to empowering nonprofits by connecting them with donors, raising funds, and expanding their impact. We are seeking an experienced part-time CTO/VP Engineering to join our leadership team. This strategic role focuses on enhancing our engineering team's efficiency, improving development processes, and guiding design and technology decisions to accelerate our platform's evolution.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic guidance on technology decisions, including exploring AI integration opportunities.
- Evaluate and optimize current product, design, and engineering team structures, processes, and workflows to boost development velocity and product delivery.
- Assess technical skill gaps within the team and recommend hiring or training initiatives to address them.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on product roadmap development and technical feasibility assessments.
- Refine our modified Agile implementation to ensure consistent application and improved project delivery timelines.
- Improve requirements gathering and project scoping processes to reduce missed deadlines and context switching.
- Advise on best practices for our Ruby on Rails and Angular-based platform.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to company-wide strategic planning.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, or similar leadership role in B2B SaaS companies, preferably in fintech or nonprofit technology sectors.
- Strong background in leading and scaling engineering teams in growth-stage environments.
- Deep familiarity with Ruby on Rails and Angular frameworks.
- Experience implementing and refining Agile methodologies to improve team productivity.
- Track record of successfully reducing context switching and improving project delivery timelines.
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies, including AI and its practical applications.
- Experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have
- Previous work with donation/payment processing platforms.
- Experience in the nonprofit technology sector.
- Background in financial technology or systems handling financial transactions.
- History of successful fractional leadership roles.
