Backend Engineer – Segmentation & Image Layout Heuristics (AWS Lambda)

Role Overview

Join our innovative team as a Backend Engineer to contribute to the development of a creative photo editing app. This project focuses on enabling users to express emotions through images without revealing their faces by generating scene-based segmentation masks that guide visual edits.

Responsibilities

• Develop a lightweight backend service capable of analyzing images for layout patterns such as sky, subject, and brightness zones.
• Generate radial and linear segmentation masks that are emotionally effective and usable for image editing.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure the backend service integrates seamlessly with the app's frontend and other components.
• Optimize the service for performance and scalability using AWS Lambda.
• Continuously improve the accuracy and usability of the segmentation masks.

Required Skills

• Proficiency with AWS Lambda for deploying serverless applications.
• Strong experience in backend development, particularly in image processing and segmentation.
• Ability to analyze and interpret image layout patterns to create binary mask maps.

Nice to Have

• Experience with photo editing applications or similar projects.
• Familiarity with emotional and mood-based image processing techniques.
